Unit Mission

The ELLIS Unit Jena advances fundamental machine learning research by addressing real-world challenges in Earth and environmental sciences. It focuses on integrating domain knowledge into AI models to improve interpretability, reliability, and causal understanding. The unit fosters methodological innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance the understanding and protection of the Earth system.
