ELLIS Fellows & Scholars
High-caliber scientists with over 10 years of experience may be appointed as ELLIS Fellows through an ELLIS Program or ELLIS Site. Fellows, and Scholars, drive scientific progress, serve as ELLIS ambassadors, and provide strategic leadership in both research and network development.
ELLIS Scholars are outstanding junior scientists, often assistant professors, who do not yet have the seniority of a Fellow, but are on a clear trajectory to reach this level.
ELLIS Program and Unit Directors are currently invited to submit new nominations within their respective Programs or Units.

Shape the European AI community by selecting new Fellows & Scholars for ELLIS
“The main benefit of being an ELLIS Fellow is belonging to an amazing community at the forefront of AI research—ELLIS has gathered the Catalan AI ecosystem around the Barcelona Unit and given our PhD students and Postdocs a sense of belonging to a wider European community. I also point colleagues to the excellent ELLIS PhD and Postdoc program, where I’ve recruited outstanding students and collaborated with top Fellows through secondments.”
