Unit Mission
The unit integrates world-class research in artificial intelligence across multiple departments at UCL. The principal components of the unit are the UCL AI centre (embedded in the Department of Computer Science), the Statistical Science department, the Gatsby Computational Neuroscience unit, and the department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, although individual members can come from any part of UCL. The core scientific aim of the UCL ELLIS unit is to devise, understand and implement new AI technologies and advise on the use of AI in science, industry and society, as AI becomes more prevalent across all aspects of modern life. The UCL ELLIS unit aims at leading the AI academic conversation in London and serve as a nexus to engage with academic and non-academic partners.
