1 Post-Doc Researcher at Department of Economics, Università Bocconi

The Department of Economics at Bocconi University invites applications for 1 Post-doc position at the intersection of applied AI, Political Economy, and Entrepreneurial Learning. The anticipated start date is 1 January 2027.

The researcher will develop and validate an AI system that transforms decision narratives into explicit, testable causal models, identifying proposed actions, underlying mechanisms, expected outcomes, supporting evidence, and assumptions. The work will involve building a language-model-based extraction pipeline, validating its outputs against an expert-coded benchmark, and developing a prototype interface or API.

Research applications will examine how politicians and experts construct causal narratives and how successful narratives originate and spread, with further applications to entrepreneurial decision-making. The researcher will lead quantitative and qualitative analyses, conduct a user pilot, and contribute to academic publications and technology transfer.

The successful candidate will work closely with the PI and project team, benefiting from the expertise of Prof. Alfonso Gambardella on entrepreneurship and technology transfer and Abhinav Pandey on AI-based narrative extraction and validation. Part of the work will take place at Bocconi’s Artificial Intelligence for the Social Sciences (AISS).
