PhD position in Machine Learning. Joint degree: KTH (Sweden) and NTU (Singapore)
We are seeking a motivated PhD student for a fully-funded joint doctoral position in machine learning, leading to a dual degree from KTH (Sweden) and NTU (Singapore). You'll be enrolled at KTH and spend at least 12 months at NTU as part of the program, co-supervised by Aristides Gionis (KTH), Sebastian Dalleiger (KTH), and Kelly Ke Yiping (NTU).
We are looking for candidates who are interested in methods, algorithms, and foundations machine learning.
You will, for example, develop new algorithms, design well-founded methods, formalize theoretical foundations, and analyze methods experimentally.
The work will be broadly-situated in the field of machine learning, including (but not limited to) areas such as
- algorithmic knowledge discovery,
- graph algorithms,
- optimization for machine learning,
- representation learning, and
- fair, accountable, and transparent machine learning.
What we're usually looking for:
- A Master's degree in CS, Math, Physics, or a related field (completed or expected prior to your start date).
- Strong background in algorithm design, machine learning, mathematical optimization, graph algorithms, or learning theory
- Solid programming skills for implementing and benchmarking algorithms
- High motivation and commitment to publishing at top venues (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, KDD)
