PhD Position in Responsible Machine Learning at University of Vienna

The Responsible ML lab at the Faculty of Computer Science, University of Vienna, is looking for a PhD candidate (fully-funded PhDs) to join the team. The research sits at the intersection of AI Safety and Data-Centric AI.

While the topic is generally open, we are specifically looking for a highly motivated student with a strong quantitative background and interest in (at least) one of the following areas:

  • Data-Centric AI (machine unlearning, data attribution & curation, and privacy preservation for large foundation models)
  • AI Safety (robust alignment in multi-agent LLM systems)

The position requires a master's degree. You should have strong familiarity with programming, and a strong grasp of foundational machine learning concepts. Previous research experience is a plus; existing publications are also appreciated but not necessary.
