Principal Investigators (f/m/x) for (i) AI in Biomedicine and (ii) AI Foundations at Helmholtz Munich

Helmholtz Munich, a leading European hub for AI in Health, is hiring two Principal Investigators (f/m/x) in (i) AI in Biomedicine or (ii) AI Foundations at its Computational Health Center.

We seek outstanding researchers with a strong track record in machine learning and its application to biology and medicine, ready to build an internationally visible research group. You will be part of the Helmholtz Association, Europe's largest research organisation, with access to the Helmholtz AI platform.

Research directions include representation learning, large language models for biomedical data, generative AI for therapeutic design, clinical trial AI and trustworthy AI (AI in Biomedicine); and explainable/causal machine learning, reinforcement learning, foundation models, self supervised learning and agentic AI (AI Foundations).

We look for an excellent PhD and/or postdoctoral record with publications in top journals or machine learning venues (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV), a track record of translational or clinically inspired research, cross domain collaboration experience, and strong leadership and mentorship skills.
