Postdoctoral Position – Causal Inference & Explainable AI at University of Potsdam
The Chair of AI in the Sciences at the University of Potsdam invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/d)(ID no. 308/2026), full-time (TV-L E13), limited until June 30, 2029 (start date summer 2026).
The position is embedded in the Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) 1294 “Data Assimilation” and focuses on research at the intersection of causal inference and explainable AI (XAI). The goal is to develop AI systems that are causally interpretable and support mechanistic and interventional reasoning in complex real-world systems.
We seek a highly motivated researcher with:
- A PhD in computer science, mathematics, statistics, physics, or a related quantitative field
- Strong background in causal inference and/or explainable AI
- Excellent Python and machine learning skills
- Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration
