Meet Yiota Poirazi, Research Director at Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) in Heraklion, Crete 🇬🇷 Her area of research covers Computational Neuroscience, Bioinspired Machine Learning, Neuroscience.
She’s an ELLIS Member and says a goal for the field of AI/ML is to demonstrate that the adoption of features and/or learning strategies from biological brains is critical for developing smarter, more efficient and sustainable AI. This is important as current AI/ML systems are both energy and data hungry, posing a significant environmental threat that needs to be acknowledged and addressed.
Yiota said she wanted to take part in this campaign because, “I believe it is important to promote the work of women in AI/ML fields - and in science in general - where they are significantly underrepresented. It can serve as motivation for other women to join.”
