Meet Silvia Cascianelli, Assistant Professor at University of Modena and Reggio Emilia 🇮🇹. She’s an ELLIS Member part of the ELLIS Unit Modena who researches Generative AI, Multimodal AI, and Document AI.
She says that while language models benefit from vast amounts of human-generated text, AI still lags behind in understanding and generating other uniquely human expressions such as visual art, technical artifacts, and performative activities. Therefore, a key goal for the field is a deeper focus on human-made artifacts.
