Meet Elizabeth Daly, Senior Technical Staff Member at IBM Research 🇮🇪 and ELLIS Member. Her team researches bidirectional interactive AI systems where systems influence users and users influence systems, with applications spanning social networks, information systems, and AI governance.
She shapes research strategy and policy across IBM Research globally, ensuring AI systems are developed with trust, transparency, and human values at their core.
In a desire to change the narrative that responsible AI inhibits innovation, she says “If we direct our amazing technical innovators at these challenges, we can demonstrate that responsible AI doesn't have to be an optional compliance burden that slows development. Instead, it can empower technologists to innovate at speed while doing the right thing - protecting their business, yes, but more importantly, protecting people from harm.”
