Spotlight on Didem Gürdür Broo

Say hi to Didem Gürdür Broo, Assistant Professor at Uppsala University 🇸🇪 and ELLIS Member. Her area of research is Multi-robot Systems, symbiotic multi-agent reinforcement learning and bio-inspired robotics for cyber-physical systems.
A particular career highlight for her has been establishing the Cyber-Physical Systems Lab at Uppsala because it gave her the freedom to define her own research vision rather than fitting into existing paradigms. Additionally, she says, “Most importantly, it's given me the opportunity to mentor the next generation of researchers and show them that interdisciplinary, values-driven research isn't a compromise, it's the future of the field.”
As for participating in this campaign, she says, “I've benefited from opportunities that many women don't have access to, and increasing diversity in our field isn't just about fairness, it's about building better, more responsible technologies.” Representation matters.
