ICLR 2026: ELLIS Member & PhD Students Contributions
Every year, we shine a light on the strong presence of ELLIS Members and PhD Students at the leading global conferences in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning. One prominent example from that list is the annual International Conference on Learning Representations (ICLR), which is dedicated to advancing Deep Learning and Representation Learning. Since its founding in 2013, it has brought together researchers across Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, and Reinforcement Learning to share the latest breakthroughs in AI research.
ICLR 2026 will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from April 23–27. The conference is globally renowned for its rigorous open review process and for setting the direction of research across all aspects of Deep Learning.
By shining a spotlight on ELLIS Members and PhD Students' contributions to ICLR, we aim to demonstrate just how many top-tier researchers belong to the ELLIS network — and how much they contribute to shaping the future of AI. It's also a way to celebrate their success and encourage continued collaboration within the ELLIS community.
Some statistics: Among ELLIS Members, 379 unique authors (comprising 113 Fellows, 43 Scholars, and 223 Members) contributed to 595 accepted papers, with 36 oral presentations and 559 posters. The ELLIS PhD Program is also well represented, with 38 ELLIS PhD Students contributing across 54 papers, including 2 oral presentations and 52 poster presentations.
A noteworthy highlight: ELLIS-affiliated authors appear in 11.1% of all ICLR 2026 accepted papers — roughly one in nine, out of 5,358 submissions. This share, in a conference drawing from hundreds of institutions worldwide, underscores the strong and sustained global scientific impact of the European ELLIS community.
Compared to last year’s ICLR conference, ELLIS-related paper contributions increased from 520 to 595 (+75, +14.4%), and the number of unique ELLIS authors from 353 to 379 (+26). This growth reflects both the growth of the ELLIS network and the continued excellence and strong scientific impact of its researchers at top-tier venues.
Below you'll find this year's contributions listed — have a look to see who will be present at ICLR 2026 in Rio. Huge congratulations to all authors!
