ELLIS Winter School co-organised by Unit Jena in Athens

March 16th, 2026 - March 20th, 2026
National Technical University of Athens
Topic: AI for Earth System, Hazards & Climate Extremes

The Winter School is hosted by the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and co-organized by ELLIS Unit Jena, and projects MeDiTwin and AI4PEX. It brings together researchers, practitioners, and students to advance the integration of artificial intelligence with Earth and climate sciences. Motivated by the growing urgency to understand and mitigate floods, wildfires, droughts, and other extreme events, the school aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and develop robust, interpretable AI models for monitoring, forecasting, and impact assessment. Through lectures, tutorials, and interactive discussions, it will serve as a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange and innovation, strengthening Europe’s capacity to anticipate and respond to climate-related hazards while promoting the next generation of AI-driven environmental solutions.
