Unit Oxford
Unit Mission
The ELLIS Unit Oxford builds on the University of Oxford’s world-leading strengths in the computational, mathematical, and statistical foundations of machine learning and AI, complemented by deep engineering expertise in real-world systems. It also benefits from unparalleled interdisciplinary reach extending into the medical and life sciences, as well as from one of Europe’s most successful AI spinout ecosystems. Since 2026, the Unit has expanded to include the wider regional ecosystem, with the University of Warwick and the Ellison Institute of Technology Oxford joining as key partners. The Oxford ELLIS Unit aims to serve as a leading hub for AI research and innovation, bringing together academia, industry, and society, while training the next generation of researchers in an environment of scientific excellence.
