Delft

The ELLIS unit Delft will offer unique research and education strengths of 23 selected, high-profile faculty members in the following fields: (1) sequential decision making with applications in domains like robotics, vision, self-driving cars, smart energy systems, transportation, smart cities, and cybersecurity, (2) interaction, with applications such as in human-AI interaction and collaboration, crowdsourcing, and web technologies, (3) machine learning techniques for bioinformatics in the context of healthy living, disease diagnosis and prevention, and microbiological industrial processes. A unique characteristic of Delft University of Technology is the human aware context: The Delft engineer designs solutions with inherent focus on humans as part of the overall systems and human values such as autonomy, privacy and responsibility. The unit aims to create economic impact and create jobs in the Netherlands and Europe at large maintaining an extensive project portfolio with societal and industrial partners.
