Innovation requires continuous cross-fertilization of ideas. The EU-funded project ELISE has a travel fund to stimulate collaboration in the ELISE/ELLIS networks, enabling scientists to work with researchers at other sites in the network. ELISE runs two Mobility Programs, one for senior researchers (Fellows Mobility Program) and one for junior researchers (PhDs and postdocs). The ELISE Mobility Programs run from September 1, 2020, to August 31, 2023.
Fellows Mobility Program
The goal of the ELISE Mobility Program for Experienced Researchers is to bring ELISE/ELLIS Fellows, Scholars, and Members together by supporting their short and long-term scientific visits to initiate collaboration within the ELISE/ELLIS community.
The visit needs to involve an ELISE/ELLIS Fellow/Scholar/Unit Director either on the traveling or the hosting side. The Mobility Award covers travel costs of up to 3,000 EUR per researcher. Conditions of the program can be found in the Terms and Conditions of the mobility program for experienced researchers.
How to apply
Complete PART 1 of the Application form not later than 14 days before the start of the visit. ELISE Fellow mobility administration will confirm the application by e-mail.
After the visit
Immediately after the visit (and no later than 20 days after the last day of the visit), the researcher should complete PART 2: Request for reimbursement of the Application form and send a scanned signed original of this document with scanned copies of the original receipts by e-mail to the ELISE Fellow mobility administration at email@example.com.
PhD and Postdoc Mobility Program
The PhD and Postdoc mobility program is aimed at existing PhD students and postdocs in the network who want to initiate a collaboration with a Fellow or Member at another site. Young researchers can give their careers a head start by gaining international experience and exchanging ideas with the best labs in Europe. The Mobility Award covers travel costs of up to 2,500 EUR per researcher over the duration of their PhD or postdoc.
To apply for a mobility grant, the following two conditions must be fulfilled:
- You are doing a PhD/postdoc at one of the ELISE partner institutions (cf. Terms and Conditions, p. 4-5, for a list of partners) OR you are an ELLIS PhD student or postdoc;
- Your exchange will be supervised by an ELLIS Fellow, Scholar or Member at another site.
More information on how to apply and eligible costs can be found in the Terms and Conditions of the ELISE Mobility Program for PhDs and Postdocs. Applicants should fill out the application form and send it to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line Application ELISE Mobility Grant: Applicant’s Last Name; the two supervisors should be cc’ed. Applications are possible year-round, but should be submitted no later than 1 month before the starting date of the exchange visit, as they need to be processed by the ELISE and university administration. Reimbursement forms will be sent along with the decision on your application.
The Mobility Programs have received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under ELISE grant agreement No 951847.
