Tenure-track Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor of Machine Learning
The Department of Computer Science at the University of Copenhagen invites applications for several positions as Assistant (Tenure track), Associate or Full Professor in Machine Learning.
The University of Copenhagen is ranked #9 in Europe and #39 in the World. The Department of Computer Science was founded in 1970 by Peter Naur, recipient of the ACM Turing Prize in 2005. Today, CS is a rapidly growing and highly international department, with internationally strong research in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, Algorithms and Complexity, Natural Language Processing and Information Retrieval, Image and Medical Image Analysis, Bioinformatics, Human-Centered Computing, Software Engineering and Data Management, Programming Languages, and other areas of computer science.
We are seeking exceptional candidates to strengthen and complement the research profile of the department within machine learning. Research areas of interest include, but not limited to:
- Machine learning theory
- Machine learning tools for specialized domains
- Scalable and efficient machine learning
- Quantum machine learning
- Applications of machine learning, including sustainability (particularly environment and the energy sector)
- Societal aspects of machine learning, including fairness, explainability, privacy, and ethics.
Potential candidates are expected to have a publication track record in top-tier venues such as NeurIPS/ICML/COLT/JMLR.

The department is part of the ELLIS Unit Copenhagen and leads 2 centers within Artificial Intelligence: the SCIENCE AI Center (https://ai.ku.dk/) and the Pioneer Center within Artificial Intelligence (https://di.ku.dk/ai-centre/).
