About us
The Computer Vision Center (CVC) is a non-profit institution founded in 1995 as a Consortium formed by the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and located at the UAB’s Bellaterra Campus. With an outstanding team of more than 130 researchers and technicians, 2000 m2 devoted to R&D and the most advanced resources in hardware and software, the CVC holds an international reputation for innovative research and technology transfer in the field of Computer Vision. Its mission is to develop prestigious research with international impact, transfer knowledge to companies and society, and train scientists and high-level professionals.
The CVC performs exciting and pioneering research in Computer Vision, working on the main problems of humanity, on the great challenges proposed by the European Union: Health (personalized medicine, well-being for the elderly, assistance to the disabled), Industry (sustainable farming, recycling, industry 4.0, optimization of resources and quality control), Mobility (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, traffic accident prevention, smart cities) and Culture (cultural heritage exploitation, democratisation of our past, open access to libraries and archives).
CVC’s expertise has brought the centre to a leading position in the Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition fields, and it is considered a reference in elevating R&D impact in society. CVC also benefits from the success and added value brought about by its patents and the setting up of spin-off companies, as well as working with the best companies worldwide. The CVC also carries out PhD research and thesis tutoring for PhD students, supports the master’s degree program in Computer Vision (UAB, UPC, UPF, UOC & UB) and has a year-round schedule of seminars and other training opportunities.
Position
CVC is offering two staff researcher positions to well-qualified, highly motivated and dynamic scientists who wish to enhance his/her scientific career in a friendly and stimulating environment. We are looking for established researchers that will consolidate their computer vision research group in Barcelona.
Requirements
Education
- PhD in Computer Science or related topics.
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
- Prior experience in research in any Computer Vision topic (5 years minimum). Priority will be given to lines not currently covered at the Computer Vision Centre, or complementary lines (Robotics, Foundation Models for CV, Trustworty CV, etc...)
- Previous experience of supervising PhDstudents.
- Multiple publications in top computer vision/ML venues (CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ICLR, ICML, NeurIPS).
- Fluency in English is essential. Knowledge of Spanish and/or Catalan would be advantageous, as well as the commitment to achieve the necessary communicative levels in both languages.
- Proven ability to succesfully obtain and lead large-scale, collaborative (international) projects.
- Prior experience in knowledge transfer and collaboration with industry will be positively valued.
Competences
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proven leadership skills.
Conditions
- We offer a full-time permanent contract linked to periodic productivity evaluations, with a 6-month trial period.
- The position will be located at CVC, within the UAB Campus in Cerdanyola del Vallès, Barcelona.

- Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement
- Salary: the gross annual salaries inherent to these positions will be fixed according to the experience provided and the aptitudes of the candidates.

Development of the recruitment process
The selection will be carried out through a competitive examination system consisting of the following phases:
- Curriculum Analysis: Evaluation of previous experience and/or scientific history, degree, training, and other professional information relevant to the position by an internal scientific committee.
- Interview phase 1: The highest-rated candidates at the curriculum level will be invited to the interview phase (which could be online), conducted by the recruitment panel. In this phase, technical competencies, knowledge, skills, and professional experience related to the position, as well as the required personal competencies, will be evaluated.
- Interview phase 2: the pre-selected candidates will be invited to CVC to meet the recruitment panel in person and will be asked to conduct an internal seminar.
The panel, with the support of the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB),will make a final decision, and all individuals who participated in the interview phase will receive feedback with details on the acceptance or rejection of their profile.
Information on the results and formalization of the employment contract The definitive list of selected candidates will be published on the corporate website. The accreditation of the capacity to perform the tasks inherent to the job position will be prior to the formalization of the employment contract.
Withdrawal
The CVC management may decide at any time to withdraw from the call procedure if defects are detected in the processing of the call or if there are reasons of mere expediency.
