ELLIS Cambridge Unit Machine Learning Summer School
11 July 2022 - 15 July 2022 Summer School
The ELLIS Cambridge Unit is holding a Machine Learning Summer School from 11-15 July 2022.
The School is a distinguished course of 5 days offered to graduate students, researchers and professionals, featuring engaging experts in their respective field and/or world-recognized professionals speaking about advanced machine learning concepts. There will also be poster sessions where attendees can share their research work.
The speakers – many of them are ELLIS Fellows – are leading experts in their fields, who will explain and talk with enthusiasm about advanced concepts related to, but not limited to, machine learning, data analysis and inference. We are happy to announce a list of highly acclaimed speakers, as shown below together with a tentative list of topics to be covered by them.
The summer school will conclude with an ELLIS Meetup poster session and a networking event. This will bring students, researchers, and engineers from the greater Cambridge area (UK) together for an opportunity to meet and discuss recent machine learning research (recently published as well as ongoing work).
Topics and speakers:
Andreas Bender: Artificial Intelligence in Drug Discovery
Silvia Chiappa (ELLIS Scholar): Causal Inference and Fairness
Gabor Csanyi: Machine Learning and Atomistic Simulation
Carl Henrik Ek: Gaussian Processes and Bayesian Optimization
José Miguel Hernández-Lobato (ELLIS Fellow and Director of the ELLIS Unit Cambridge): Modern Bayesian Neural Networks
Neil Lawrence (ELLIS Fellow): Machine Learning
David Krueger: AI safety and Alignment
Amanda Prorok: Multi-agent and Multi-robot Systems
Tom Rainforth: Bayesian Experimental Design and Active Learning
Rich Turner (ELLIS Fellow): Neural Processes
Mihaela van der Schaar (ELLIS Fellow): Machine Learning in Healthcare
Emily Shuckburgh: Machine Learning and Climate
Petar Veličković (ELLIS Scholar): Machine Learning and Graphs
Application
The school is expected to accept about 100 participants. Please apply online at: http://www.ellis.eng.cam.ac.uk/summerschool
Although priority will be given to young researchers (Master/PhD students in particular), applications from senior researchers and industrial professionals are welcome as well.
Applicants should apply by May 22, 2022.
Notification of acceptance will be sent by June 7, 2022.
Fees
There is no fee for attending. Coffee and lunch will be provided to participants on each day and dinner on the last day. Attendees will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs.
